PC Configuration

Post by Weena »

Im thinking about Buying a new PC.

This is what I came up with so far. From Alternate.de

1 x Intel® Core™ i7-8700K, Prozessor € 354,-
1 x ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-F GAMING, Mainboard € 209,90
1 x be quiet! Dark Rock Advanced C1, CPU-Kühler € 52,90
1 x G.Skill DIMM 16GB DDR4-3200 Kit, Arbeitsspeicher € 162,90
1 x G.Skill DIMM 16GB DDR4-3200 Kit, Arbeitsspeicher € 162,90
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G, Grafikkarte € 639,-
1 x Crucial MX300 525 GB, Solid State Drive € 122,90
1 x Sharkoon DG7000 blue, Tower-Gehäuse € 64,90
1 x Thermaltake Berlin 630W, PC-Netzteil € 54,90

If you buy an GTX Card, you get The Crew 2 for free. So why not spend 1900 euro on a new PC :angelic-green:

So what do you think, is this any good ?

I can't go into detail because it would require a little bit research, but for the first look it looks good.

If you like to compare performance and price here are my spec:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600X TRAY AM4 6x3600MHz 160 Euro (special ebay-offer with a premium discount, i didn't bought it myself)
MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON AMD X370 So.AM4 Dual Channel DDR4 ATX Retail 110,93 Euro
16GB G.Skill RipJaws V black DDR4-3200 DIMM CL16 Dual Kit (here the price doesn't matter, because you wont find it that cheap anymore. Airmaxx bought it with a price-error on amazon for half of the usual price :D )
KFA2 GeForce GTX 1080 EXOC PCI-E Gaming-Card, 8GB GDDR5X 513,93 Euro
250GB Samsung 960 Evo M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 32Gb/s 3D-NAND TLC Toggle 119,94 Euro
240GB SanDisk Plus (taken from the old pc, just for the installed games)
4000GB Seagate Barracuda Compute ST4000DM004 256MB 3.5" (8.9cm) SATA 6Gb/s 99,85 Euro
EKL Alpenföhn Brocken 3 CPU-Cooler 43,49 Euro
500 Watt be quiet! Pure Power 10 CM Modular 80+ Silver 66,39 Euro
Sharkoon BW9000 Midi Tower 76,44 Euro

(So combined around 1.300 Euro incl. the RAM)

I just checked current prices of the volatile products - The RAM costs about 160 Euro at the moment and the GTX around 600 Euro.

@ Don

Not so sure about an AMD system. :? Also the CPU you have is not such an big step from my I7 3770k I have at the moment.

I always try to double the preference of my system when I buy a new PC.
So I have 16 GB ram now. New PC has to have 32 and so on.

Oddly, this is hard to achieve these days. Even with my 5 year old PC. Progress seams to slow down quite a bit.

@JustBe

WoW, Impressive system you have there :text-bravo:
But no Wheel ?

I guess it's like i always say. Everyone got it's own philosophy when it comes to this.

Airmaxx and me did a lot of research last year before we bought our new rigs. (I think he did only change RAM and CPU.) We were considering buying an Intel too, but then we always ended up that they are just too overprized for what you get.

I just did a quick comparison between your old CPU, my new and your new. Mine is around 25% percent better than your old (on that particular page) and your new is around 50% better (on that particular page). I' pretty sure on other pages you will find totally different results, but in comparion too this your new CPU is more than double as expensive than my was.

All i can say is that i can run Forza Horizon 3, NFS15 and (most likely) The Crew 2 in 4k on Ultra without any performancedrops. In NFS15 i even had still over 150 FPS on 4k resolution. The Crew 2 i couldn't test so far, because it was not implimented in the Tech-Tests and in the Beta i forgot to look if you can go for it now. But 2k i already tested in one of the TTS and it run without a single framedrops or lag. Only The Crew 1 i can run only in FullHD, but that is definitely not related to my system but more a problem of this badly coded game. (Starbound as a last example is totally different thing. Here i still have bad framedrops to under 20 FPS in some crowed areas. But this is also more related to the game and not to my system. Even Gronkh with his "NASA"-rig has bad framedrops here. )

Overall it's a science for itself if you want the "Alpha-Omega" in your rig. I saw that last year. We checked parts and partprices for like half a year until we made our final decisions. ;)

At the moment my system is just to slow. I´m not really sure what´s the problem.
You know I have an GTX 970. In The crew 2 with 2560x1080, I can only play on 30 fps. And thats not even with full filter on :|

I could just buy an gtx 1080 and run it in my old PC. But will my old i7 be enough ?

I thought you have a GTX960, the same as i have in my old PC? I remember that we all bought the same card back in 2014. Did you bought another one meanwhile? I remember on my old PC i was also only able to run TC2 in 30 FPS without any bigger framedrops and lags.

I have a old I7 CPU and it run's everything just fine. (second gen I7)
If your old I7 does at least 3.4ghz you would not have to worrie at all.
Pretty sure that if you have trouble with TC2 it's due to your GPU.

What you should worrie about is if your PSU can powerup a 1080
