But what the heck is an Drivatar ?

Driveatars are the retarded AI-playerclones who should adapt the drivingskills of the real players they display. But in reality that does not work. They drive like brainless, even if you know the player and his good drivingskills.

(Something similar like the AI-drivers that you sometimes see in TC2 on the racetracks or that are disturbing you while doing skilltests.)

You are not that far from the truth. Those avatars, scuci Drivea(re)tar(t)s are running in the offline-races of your friends or clubmembers, and the more they are shown in the races of others the more daily moneybonus you get after gamestart.
